Going for tacos on Sawtelle might feel like going to the SGV for Texas BBQ.... but there is a good reason for doing so. Sonoritas Prime Tacos recently opened there and its now open for lunch. I am always happy to see a place take tacos seriously (looking at you Taco Bell.) With Sonoritas open kitchen you can see fresh tortillas being made, and them breaking down large pieces of beef for their steak rich taco menu. Now despite the abundance of steak I would suggest getting a pastor taco (marinated slices of pork roasted on a spit usually with pineapple in the marinade/served on top.) I may even be tempted to say this is the best pastor taco on the Westside.....but that might get their PR company a little too excited. All the tacos here are pretty solid. I suggest trying them with the great roasted green chile salsa they make here. The only point negative I may have is while I love pickled red onions they are a little repetitive as a garnish with the taco options. You should go.
