Weekending in San Diego : Sitting Seaside at Vessel Restaurant

There's nothing quite like eating oceanside. Vessel Restaurant  fulfills this basic need pretty well. Sitting on Shelter Island in San Diego Vessel recently got a total makeover. The menu is eclectic American and goes from small tapa plates to large plates. Make sure to bring your camera because the dishes here are totally Instagram worthy!

The cocktail menu here is focused on fresh bright flavors. The nice thing is they will make their drinks alcohol free.  I suggest the anti-oxidant mojito. It has a mix of berries, lime and mint to give it a great slightly tart flavor.

You are sitting next to an ocean. You should have some seafood. The seafood tagliatelle is bursting with the flavors of the sea. It's filled with mussels, clams and scallops with fresh pasta.

The leek & potato gratinée (think paper thin slices of potato brushed with cheese and butter and then pressed into a block) is my favorite side dish here. Its supposed to be served with a steak but they might let you order it separately.

Don't forget dessert because the key lime pie here is served so tall you could mistake it for a slice of cake. Creamy, rich, and with a citrusy tang this is the perfect dessert to end a meal with.
