Nancy's Pizza recently opened in downtown Alhambra. The unique thing about Nancy's is they specialize in deep dish pizza, a rarity in Southern California. The Alhambra location is actually attached to a Al's Beef (same owner) so you can get your Chicago food fix in one spot. Nancy's has deep dish, thin crust and Neapolitan pizza options. Obviously you should go for the deep dish...but what about the other pies?
For those unfamiliar deep dish pizzas take time. Usually around 35 to 40 minutes to bake. You should order ahead if you know what you like. Nancy's suggests trying their sausage pie first but I loved the pepperoni and Giardiniera ( chiles, cauliflower and carrots that are pickled.) Faster options include the Neapolitan (they only want to do these at lunch) and the thin crust (almost a cracker crust.) No pizza option is bad at Nancy's and they have a almost cult status in some parts of the US. Go and try it. Let us know how you think it stacks up to other deep dishes pizzas in So Cal.
