Venice Whaler Gets a New Menu

The Venice Whaler has been around for a while. Since the 1940's the Whaler has been serving Venice Beach and the surrounding community. Recently the Whaler was reopened with a new hip American bad food menu to appeal more as a dining destination. Heres a couple of our favorite dishes from the new menu.

Fish & chips.  Its a big hunk of cod sitting on top of fries. The beer batter gives it a great flavor and crunch and its pretty moist. The fries are also pretty good. I cant put my finger on what they do to them...

Short rib banh mi.    Its not a banh mi. Its a brioche roll with short rib. And its good! Its just not a Vietnamese sandwich.

Wings. Giant wings. These may have been my favorite dish of the night. Wings that are about 4 times bigger than most other wing places. Grilled and tossed with buffalo sauce. Great bar food dish.

Grilled corn on cob.  This corn is insanely tender. They may boil it? But whatever they do the corn almost melts in your mouth and with the lime and cotija cheese feels like an upscale street corn dish.

Key lime pie.  Great way to end a meal. Tart and smooth. Just sweet enough without losing the great flavor that is key lime.
