Pizza Five85 Opens in West Covina Has Plans to Expand Across So Cal

Pizza Five85 is the newest chain to open in L.A. county that does the build your own pizza trend. At 6.99 they are a little cheaper than established chains such as Pieology, Blaze Pizza, and 800 Degrees.  Inside Five85 you are not going to find any surprises in the decore. The menu on the other hand...if I had to describe it I would say its what someone from Asia would make if they were told to make a Blaze/Pieology knockoff. Theres baby shrimp, seaweed, and bonito flakes (dried, fermented, and smoked skipjack tuna) as topping options. I got the pizza and I got their garlic bread option too.
There were issues as soon as I got my food. My dining companions said that the marinara sauce was like a chunky tomato paste.  My pizza was not cooked through. The garlic bread (just a crust brushed with garlic butter) let me taste the dough by itself and it reminded me of Chuck E Cheese (not the best comparison.) Overall no one I ate with has no great desire to go back to  Five85 anytime soon. I think with their planned expansion we may start seeing a bubble of bulid your own pizza places imploding soon.
