The Brick Market And Deli Opens In Pomona

John Sayegh is attempting a one man renaissance. Arrow Highway is not a street to be romanticized about.  The stretch of it across Pomona may be the ugliest with chain restaurants, vacant strip malls, and fast food all over. John's new place The Brick Market and Deli is trying to change that. John sees the potential and need for a place that serves fresh custom food without anything fried in this neighborhood. He makes his pita bread for his sandwiches to order from a family recipe. The chili has two types of tomatoes in it. Instead of fries he offers a few different salad options. 
The food itself is good stuff. The pita bread is a star and used for the house made chicken shawarma. Which is spit  roasted as it should be. I do hope they had a hot sauce/garlic sauce option though. The chili here is rich and satisfying. It has beans, ground beef and tri tip in it and thick enough you could eat most of it with a fork. It is on the spicy side (I like it that way) Other sandwiches include a house roasted pork sandwich (they are thinking of adding a garlic aioli to this and it would be incredible) and a three cheese grilled cheese with a parmesan crust. Hopefully the area will embrace The Brick and Pomona will be a better place.
